Like many registrars, I spend nights roaming the corridors of the hospital in search of patients, food or rest. Entering deserted offices, I have lost count of the lights and computers still on, left flickering many hours earlier by their owners. Every time I switch one off – and I admit I do it fairly indiscriminately – I feel good.
