Medical Students Committee

The Medical Students Committee (MSC) is the BMA branch of practice committee that represents medical students in the UK.

Each UK medical school elects a representative who sits on the Committee for one year. MSC policy is set by the medical students conference and the BMA's annual representative meeting (ARM). Each devolved nation has its own MSC.

The MSC meets four times a year, in September, December, March and June. There are three subcommittees of MSC, which are responsible for taking work forward. The three subcommittees are each chaired by one of the three deputy chairs of MSC.

MSC elections 2013 - 2014

Each year the BMA holds elections at all UK medical schools to elect Medical Students Committee (MSC) Representatives and Intra-School Committee (ISC) Chairs.

MSC is the national forum for debate for medical student members of the BMA. It represents the views of both BMA student members and the wider interests of all medical students.

MSC encourages co-operation between student members and the medical profession and meets regularly to discuss issues and formulate campaigns on the important issues, particularly those relating to student education, welfare and finance.

The deadline for submission of nomination forms closed on 30 April 2013.

Please note - elections for ISC Chairs will be held at all Medical schools, except for Queen's University Belfast and Welsh Medical Schools.

  • Nominations open: 9 April 2013
  • Nominations close: 30 April 2013
  • Elections open: 4 June 2013
  • Elections close: midday on 26 June 2013
