About the resident doctors conference
The resident doctors conference takes place once a year and acts as the primary BMA policy setting body for resident doctors in the UK.

Who can attend
The conference is open to all current BMA resident doctor members. Places are limited and you must register to attend. Registration will open at 12pm on 20 February 2025.
As a membership organisation it is only right that the policies of the resident doctor conference are decided by our members. These are the same members whose fees contribute to the cost of our conference and the ongoing work of the BMA’s resident doctor committees. Following discussions, this year’s conference agenda committee has taken the decision to limit registration to members only.
Conference format
It is possible to attend the conference either in person at BMA House, London or online. You will be able to specify how you would like to attend on the registration form.
First time attendees event – Friday 25 April 2025
If you have never attended a BMA conference before, there is an optional training session the day before that will prepare you for the event. This is an opportunity to discuss key issues, learn about conference procedures and develop motions to be debated during Saturday's conference. Those who go to the first time attendees event are also invited to an informal dinner in the evening. If you would like to attend, please let us know via the online registration form. Places are limited and allocated to first time BMA conference attendees on a first come, first served basis.
Conference - Saturday 26 April 2025
The resident doctors conference is a full day event.

You'll receive the agenda and motions for debate prior to the conference.
Please note that any emergency motions covering 'new business' that has arisen since the last day for receipt of motions need to be submitted to RDC secretariat by 12:00 Friday 18 April.
Any amendment or rider to any items on the agenda must be sent to RDC secretariat by 12:00 on Friday 18 April.

We’re working to make this year’s resident doctors conference the most representative yet, by protecting 57% of seats for women and other underrepresented genders to reflect the makeup of our resident doctor membership. When you register, you’ll be asked to share your gender identity – you don't have to share this information to register, however we can only ensure you’re included in the pool for protected seats if you do share your gender identity with us. This information will be kept strictly confidential and in accordance with GDPR.
You should not need to use your annual leave to attend the conference, and you’ll be provided with a trade union leave letter once your place is confirmed. The BMA will also cover your travel and accommodation expenses in line with our time off and expenses policy. If you have child or adult dependent caring responsibilities, please let us know when you register so we can facilitate care support or reimbursement.
