We have been moved to comment on the terrible situation in Israel/Palestine following the deaths of medical colleagues Dr Ayman Abu al-Ouf and Dr Mooein Ahmad al-Aloul in Gaza as a result of Israeli airstrikes.

We call on all parties to the conflict to show restraint and to respect fully the Geneva Conventions and other relevant articles of international humanitarian law and international human rights.

It is a matter of extreme urgency that the parties adhere to the agreed ceasefire, de-escalate the conflict and negotiate a long-lasting peace settlement.
