There are 12 regional SAS committees in England. Our regional representatives involve and engage with SAS doctors on a local basis, and work with the UK SAS doctors committee.

Overview

The regional SAS committees meet four times a year to discuss issues that are most important to SAS doctors in their respective regions.

One meeting per year is open to all SAS doctors in their region – get in touch with your regional contact for details. Other meetings are formed of representatives from each trust; generally SAS LNC (local negotiating committee) reps. If you would like to represent your trust on the committee, please speak to your IRO (industrial relations officer).

How to join your RSASC

There are many advantages to becoming involved in our committees. You can actively influence BMA policy-making and negotiations at regional level, represent your colleagues' voices and develop your leadership skills.

Each BMA committee has a few routes to becoming an elected member. In the case of RSASCs, this is:

Local negotiating committees
  • Seats/term - every year, LNCs in England elect two representatives from each Trust within the region for a one-session term.
  • Timeline - elections are usually held in July or August.
  • Eligibility - all SAS doctors in England who are BMA members are eligible to stand and vote in this election if they work in the relevant Trusts.

To join or find out more about LNC elections, contact your LNC Chair in your trust or RSASC directly from the list below.
